The storm has passed, smooth water for now

Thank you Father for your blessings these past weeks. Thank you for consistency and routines. Thank you all for your continued prayers.

For the past 6 weeks, life has been pretty routine. Theresa has been busy with mom things; helping with school work, shuttling kids, going to volleyball and soccer games, and getting our oldest son’s graduation plans and pictures together. She wears out still, but is gaining in endurance. She has been exercising about an hour a day and has been completely off sugar. She has been experimenting with different recipes, some she and the kids like and others they don’t (I’m less picky and have enjoyed it all). She is working on getting her weight down and without comfort foods, she is making good progress. We have hit a pleasant time, no ups or downs, just smooth sailing. We have enjoyed this time.

The month of discomfort with the drain seem to have worked, as she hasn’t had any recurrence of the fluid collection. Her frozen shoulder persists, has gotten more uncomfortable recently though. She has had it for 6 months now, so we will be making an appt with Orthopedics to see if she is a good candidate for surgery soon. Theresa is in good spirits. She knows God has given her a second go at life and she appreciates it every day. Thank you all for the part you have played in her being here today. God does answer prayers and He is faithful for sure.

Chris Tijgeren, Experiencing God’s Presence devotional (April 4th), writes “Moses asks for more information from God” in Exodus 33:13. “His plea is as well reasoned as any child’s petition for parental permission: “Let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor”. How could God refuse. It’s all about knowing Him better and doing the right things. God’s response is comforting. He actually answers the plea for more information. Moses has asked who will accompany him to the Promised Land and God says He will personally do it. Not only that, His Presence along the way will provide rest and peace. “Everything will be fine for you,” God reassures His servant.”..”That is true for us, too. We spend a lot of time focusing on what we need, but if we prioritize His Presence, what we need won’t be an issue. If He goes with us, it doesn’t matter which problems arise. He is there to take care of them. And we can rest.”

We have experienced this ourselves. Our focus has been on God and submitting to His will. He actually answered all our (your and our) prayers AND He is present and has provided us with rest and peace. It is true everything will be fine, no matter our circumstances or the outcome, for God is with us and He works all things for good for those who love and pursue Him.

Thank you for your continued prayers. Will keep on writing.

Keep on writing and we will keep on praying. This is wonderful news and I will continue to pray for Theresa’s shoulder. Thanks for the devotional thoughts, too.

About Doctor Paul

Dr. Paul Williams, MD is a small-town family practice doctor working in Centralia, Washington. He works from the same office where his primary care practice was established by his father over 38 years ago. He believes strongly that the art of the old-fashioned primary care doctor is an important feature of our medical system that should be preserved and protected from excess interference from insurance companies and government regulation alike.

Due to changes in the health care industry and regulations affecting it, and in an effort to preserve the art of old-fashioned primary care, Dr. Paul has shifted his practice to a Direct Care model, meaning that patients pay an affordable monthly fee to purchase primary care health care services directly, rather than having their services billed through an insurance company.

This blog is intended to help Dr. Paul's patients (and anyone else!) understand the changes the medical industry is going through, and to provide information about the Direct Care model of primary care.
