Perseverance

October 9, 2016 by Paul Williams 5 Comments

Thank you Father once again for a good week, the strength for the week, and the encouragement from above. Thank you all for your continued support.

Well the lack of restful sleep, radiation burned skin, lymphedema, left arm soreness from overuse (trying to become left hand dominant), fatigue, driving to Olympia five days a week, and the kids schedule caught up to Theresa this weekend. She didn’t have the stamina to get out of the house all weekend. Theresa’s spirits are still good, though there are still low times, especially when she is so fatigued. In just over a week she will be going to a lymphedema clinic to hopefully reduce the edema and discomfort that has brought. she will start week 3 of radiation Monday and Friday she will get her every three week Herceptin treatment. She is finding now that the radiation treatments have become painful. One good thing is that the Radiation Oncologist thought her skin would be much more irritated than what it is at this point. – small victories.

From Streams in the Desert Oct 5th
“One way or the other, we must all learn the difference between trusting in the gift and trusting in the Giver. The gift may last for a season, but the Giver is the only eternal love”.

We have been blessed by the gifts given by our Father. We know they are temporary as life on this earth is temporary. The true gift is life eternal with the Giver, the One behind it all. We are so thankful for the hope for tomorrow and the help for today.

May you have a blessed week. Continue to hold Theresa up in your prayers.

You and Theresa are still in our daily prayers. All around us family and friends are facing greater challenges than us even though Marcus is one week out of hip replacement surgery. Our troubles are so, so minor. We recognize how blessed we are, and I know first hand that life as I once knew it can be altered at the blink of an eye. I think of you and your family often in your 10+ month struggle. We will pray for endurance and peace in your continued perseverance.

Thank you again Paul for the update. I wondered about Theresa Sunday when I didn’t see her at church. May I bring a meal this Thursday or Friday for you all? I was thinking a ground turkey veggie lasagna. Prayers are with all of you, especially Theresa.

About Doctor Paul

Dr. Paul Williams, MD is a small-town family practice doctor working in Centralia, Washington. He works from the same office where his primary care practice was established by his father over 38 years ago. He believes strongly that the art of the old-fashioned primary care doctor is an important feature of our medical system that should be preserved and protected from excess interference from insurance companies and government regulation alike.

Due to changes in the health care industry and regulations affecting it, and in an effort to preserve the art of old-fashioned primary care, Dr. Paul has shifted his practice to a Direct Care model, meaning that patients pay an affordable monthly fee to purchase primary care health care services directly, rather than having their services billed through an insurance company.

This blog is intended to help Dr. Paul's patients (and anyone else!) understand the changes the medical industry is going through, and to provide information about the Direct Care model of primary care.
