It has been close to three months since my last post. For the most part it has been an uneventful 3 months. Theresa did have a fall down our stairs, starting with the first one, hitting the tile with her head after the last step. She was pretty banged up and sprained her ankle. Again, God was very generous to us, no concussion, laceration or fracture – all of which can happen with this type of fall. A doctor friend of our Oncologist lost his wife this way. She has completely healed. We again are so very thankful for protection from above. Theresa just had her 1 year check up (one year since she finished her treatment) and all checked out well. Her Oncologist said she was the poster child for response to Herceptin/Perjeta for patients with over expression of HERS-2-neu receptor. He is still amazed at her response. Though we know the thousands of prayers petitioning God, behind the scenes, was crucial in her response. In addition her HERS-2-neu receptor status was indeterminate, over expressed in one biopsy in the breast but negative in another biopsy in her lymph node. The full picture will never be known until we get the opportunity to ask God about it. In the mean time our hearts continue to be full of gratitude and thanks giving.

Theresa’s left shoulder was surgically released last year and that shoulder is doing pretty well. She probably has 70% of the function she had before the frozen shoulder occurred. Her right shoulder is frozen as well, which I have mentioned a few times. The pain is way down now, but her function is severely limited. We hope this summer to be more aggressive with Physical Therapy as surgery is probably out of the question as the risk for lymph edema too high. She could benefit from focused prayer for healing of her right shoulder. Her limited use of her arms made it so she couldn’t catch herself before falling down the stairs.

Theresa’s spirits continue to stay high. She stays busy homeschooling our daughter, running her around, feeding 4 teenagers and keeping up with all that is needed to keep 4 teenagers going. She still wears out quicker than she used to, but better than it was last year. It has been just over 2 years since she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic aggressive breast cancer with 6 weeks to live. Each day we give thanks, and each day is sweeter still. Our kids have adapted well and are performing well in school and with friends. With the move of my office closer to home, Theresa and I are looking forward to lunchtime walks on sunny days.

Bless the Lord oh my soul, and all that is within me praise His Holy name. He has been so good to us. He sustains us at all times, which He made ample clear the past two years. He can be counted on. He is the only constant in life, the only rock we can stand on. And we can only experience His promises though the life-giving work of Christ.
