Grateful for today

Thank you Father for another week, and a fine one at that. Thank you all for your continued prayers.

Theresa finished 20 of 34 Radiation treatments. She is starting to blister now, which is becoming uncomfortable. Due to insurance preauthorization snafu’s she hasn’t gotten into physical therapy for her lymphedema. Her fatigue is pretty prominent now, though she still tries to get out a little bit. She made it to our daughter’s soccer game Saturday and to Church today, though weekend afternoons are good for a long nap. You can pray for her back and neck pain. The radiation and lymphedema has caused discomfort in her right side, but her left arm is giving her more problems including headaches. The muscles are knotting and so far ibuprofen, home massage, heat have not helped. A TEN’s unit arrives tomorrow, hopefully that will give her some relief. Despite the discomfort, her spirits continue to be positive and she offers me a beautiful smile. We are truly blessed. For our homeschool son, Theresa is still involved and teaching a few classes and keeping him on task.

When I count our blessings and name them one by one, it becomes very obvious that the tender care of our Father has been with us and continues to be so. For Theresa and I to have another day together, and then another, and the hope of others, brings peace to my soul. I am thankful for the times just sitting near each other reading or doing quite tasks. We have grown so used to being together, that the thought of not being near each other is too difficult to grasp. So we don’t think about it, instead we enjoy today. And we are grateful for the many more days we have had since Theresa’s diagnosis 10 months ago. God has been so good to us and so tender. Our hearts are filled with gratitude every day.

Thank you all for your continued thoughts and prayers.
